Hi Mr Mackenzie,
I am currently studying higher physics at Inverness but I find your website a great learning resource for me!
I hope the fact I’m logging on here is not too imposing, as I presume it’s meant more for your own students.
I have ‘success guides’ and ‘how to pass’ help books. I find success guides to be the most clear and quick way to grasp the subject… I do wish that hodder Gibson published a “practice and preparation” book for physics as they did that with maths! What’s good about that particular book is how similar the questions are to the exam, and how the marking instructions are aimed more towards a self marking student.
Any suggestions regarding learning resources and practice would be very much appreciated between now and the exam and for the unit 3 nab I’m about to sit!
I’m also interested to know whereabouts you are from, where do you teach?
Kind regards- Iain
Which Higher are you doing? There are three on offer this year; traditional, revised and CfE. It sounds like you’re beyond using BBC Bitesize, so you might want to try Scholar – have you been told about this resource at school?
There are downloadable notes in pdf format for each unit, plus interactive aids to help you work through the content. There are also multiple choice assessments to check your progress. I think all Higher candidates in Highland are registered to use Scholar. Your username is your individual SQA candidate number but the password comes from someone at your school. Try your teacher in the first instance but it could be the SQA co-ordinator or the office staff who have these. Might be an idea to get hold of your password this week, if you don’t know it already.
